Májovák Wins Gold at Geneva

Our band's participation in the Genève Music Band Contest - Digital Edition" turned out to be an enormous success. We placed first in the "Excellence" category and won the gold medal. Our performance was judged by a jury that was composed of the following experts and composers: Franco Cesarini (Switzerland, jury chairman), Bert Appermont (Belgium), Jacob de Haan (the Netherlands), Jan van der Roost (Belgium), José Alcacer Dura (Spain) and Délio Gonçalves (Portugal). Májovák, conducted by Ondřej Packan, played James Barnes' Pagan Dances (test piece) and Oliver Waespi's Divertimento (free choice). Due to the covid pandemic, the contest took place in a digital form. We had made our recording in the Czech Radio studio in Ostrava (dir. František Mixa, sound Lubomír Výrek).
