The concert of the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Májovák Karviná, which took place on Saturday 25th May 2024 in the Polish Philharmonic in Opole, was a huge success and a great representation of our town. The final standing ovation of the full hall only underlined the excellent performance of Májovák.
"We are very happy that we have managed to establish cooperation with such a top-notch ensemble as the Opole Philharmonic is undoubtedly. Now we would like to develop our cooperation further, also with the help of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Opole. The Honorary Consul was also present at the concert and was delighted with it. Our goal is to organize joint concerts of both orchestras not only in Opole but also in Karviná. Just performing in such a beautiful hall is a great experience for every musician", said Petr Ženč, Chairman of the Board of Májovák.
The concert featured works by Leonard Bernstein (Symphonic Dances from West Side Story), Antonín Dvořák (Carnival Overture and American Suite) and Bedřich Smetana (Triumphal Symphony). Dominik Bunc shone with a virtuoso solo in Óscar Navarro's oboe concerto Legacy. The whole concert was conducted by the chief conductor of Májovák Filip Urban.
The concert was supported by the Statutory City of Karviná, the OKD Foundation, Landek Ostrava Foundation and the Moravian-Silesian Region.
