The long-awaited event is here. The famous composer and conductor Johan de Meij, currently the most important figure in symphonic wind music in the world, will come to conduct the concert on 6 April 2025 from the USA.
Together with our chief conductor Filip Urban, he will prepare a programme of his works and arrangements. The concert will feature his beautiful cello concerto Casanova, with Ladislav Mariaš as soloist, the well-known Continental Overture, and that's not all. Johan de Meij has chosen our orchestra to perform the world premiere of his work Essay no. 1, which you will hear in Karviná as the first ever listeners! Conductor Filip Urban will perform two arrangements by our special guest, Dvořák's American Suite and Suite from Sergei Prokofiev's ballet Romeo and Juliet. You will definitely have something to look forward to and don't miss this unique concert!
Admission to the concert is free, ticket reservations will be available from 3 March 2025 at 3:00 pm at the box office of the Karviná City Cultural Centre and Cinema Centrum, or online at www.medk.cz.
